MUSIC MINISTRY "God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of the trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise." Psalm 47:5-7 The Music department is probably the most important piece in a church when it comes to ministry. The Music Department plays a part in every aspect of ministry, and is a very important part the growth of the church. Aside from the Pastor it is the most important and, when it’s well organized, all benefit from the ministry. The music department has to be careful and understand that without God you are nothing. The music is never above the ministry it serves. We are not above God; We are not above the church, but rather an extension of that which it serves, therefore we want to be able to serve in excellence. In the 21st century music is much different than it was 20 or even 10 years ago. There was a time when you had all types of organizations forming choirs or singing groups. (Ex. Ushers, Deacons, Jubilee, Senior, etc.). Because we could not afford pianos and organs we had to do what we had to do… it’s called survival. There was no such thing as a Minister of music, praise team, or dancers in a church. Now we are in a time where we can afford various instruments and embark upon new ministries. We are in a position of growth and development, wherein there has to be changes. Some changes are wanted, and some are unwanted, but fortunately everything changes whether you bother it or not. A good thing is to make changes purposely, so you can control the change and the development of it. Now we are an organized body of believers, and we have organized a singing ministry to accommodate the music part of a service, which is Praise & Worship through out service. The mission of the music department is to be a Levitical, Biblical, Music Minstry priesthood which will be empowered by the Holy Spirit to become "instruments of worship and praise." We aspire to be a twenty-first century dispensation of Levites who will usher in praise as we minister in song to the people evangelisitcally, and to operate under the unction of the annointing of God's presence. Gwendolyn Carter is the musician for 8am worship service. Javier Dykes is the Minister of Music. Find out more about
